What do you use when it’s all used up?
The spring is sprung, the bell has rung.
Did you climb aboard, you lion that roared?
Did you hold the rail when they called, “Abandon ship!”
Did you play the man that bites the can?
See those toes that stepped with harmless disregard.
The road, the rules, a vanishing dot well behind in the gray atmosphere that thickens
with every tick of the slipper.

Here is is!
The fish you wished for, laid on the plate.
Dead.
Headless.

The tooth is for the bite.
