AN UPSTANDING CITIZEN
(something a tall guy told me)
some kind of sound
crying, probably
trucks roll by
fat tires
hissing
he is not sure how a Bible thrown
would make him good enough to love
a little computer video
pantomime of shame
now a name-tag
big smile
forced
he is not sure why a fist thrown
will make him an upstanding citizen
“i am scared”
“i will get too old for this”
“i can get in the next truck and go”
you might roll past this
and check in at a motel
get some sleep
